Online stopwatch

00:00.00

A simple online stopwatch. Press Start to begin, Lap to record split times and Pause to stop. Great for sports, cooking, experiments and study.

How to use the online stopwatch

    • Press Start to begin timing. The display shows minutes, seconds and hundredths of a second.
    • Press Lap at any moment to record a split time. The newest lap appears at the top of the list.
    • Press Pause to stop the clock and Resume to continue from the same moment.
    • Press Reset to clear the time and all laps.

    Lap time and total time

Each entry in the lap list shows two numbers. The first is the lap time, the time since the previous lap. The second is the total time since you pressed Start. Comparing lap times shows whether your pace is steady, speeding up or fading, which is exactly what runners, swimmers and cyclists want to know.

What is a stopwatch used for?

    • Running, swimming and cycling: pace per lap or per kilometre.
    • Cooking and experiments: measure how long a step really takes.
    • Presentations: practise and time your speech.
    • Productivity: track how long a task takes before you estimate similar ones.
    • Games and classrooms: time reaction, relay races or quiz answers.

    Tips

The display is updated many times per second and is based on a precise browser clock. For best results keep the tab visible while timing very short intervals, as browsers may refresh background tabs less often.

    Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the online stopwatch?

It displays hundredths of a second and uses a high-resolution browser clock. Small differences can occur if your device is under heavy load.

How do I record lap times?

Press Lap while the stopwatch is running. Each lap shows the time since the previous lap and the total elapsed time.

Does the stopwatch keep running in another tab?

Yes. Time is measured from the moment you press Start, so switching tabs does not stop it.
